Why on earth are we moving to America?

We've all read the news, watched the endless social media posts and have our own opinions on what's going on over there, so why on earth would we move to a country that currently looks set to ruin itself and become the joke of the world. The once reverred nation now seems hell bent on self destruction.

But if you can put those views aside - each and every one of us has an opinion about it - but for us, moving there has never been about politics or who is in power, for us, for us its the country, the beauty, untamed nature!

As with anyone moving to a new country, there are always many factors, paperwork and hoops to jump through - some of which can take many months even years to get.

We applied for my visa back in January 2024 - yep over a year ago!! back then the world was different, different leaders, policies, politics, people come, people go, and in a few years we'll all be worrying about other problems.

Throughout this last year, we have weighed up all the pros & cons of still going, but ultimately it comes down to fact that we've come this far, it's not cheap or easy to apply for a visa and despite everything that is going on in the world - not just America, we, at this moment, have more opportunities open to us by doing this move, experiences to discover and places to visit and that is ultimately what this is about. It's far too easy to put things off, make excuses.

To make such a massive change to your life, uprooting everything you know & love for the unknown is HUGE, takes an amazing amount of guts and courage - some would even say its foolish, especially right now, but if we don't try we'll never know & always regret never taking this chance. Besides we can always return one day in the future.

Life throws opportunities, some good, some bad, but that's what keeps it exciting. Life is too short, there will always be things to stop you, but having the courage to face and take on the challenges.... now that's true living.

So why on earth are we moving to America? Because we can.
